Gas Training Courses Water and Electrical Courses - Flexigas
This programme provides an alternative way into the gas industry for suitable applicants, rather than the traditional NVQ or apprentice route.
Course Description
The Logic Certified Approved Prior Learning Programme lasts several weeks and consists of two separate stages. The first is the Classroom based Training Stage, which is several days and consists of theory and practical training, which is assessed continually by means of training and summative assessments. This is followed by several weeks “on the job” training. (Length of course is dependant on Candidate ability and type of on the job training).
This satisfies the gas safe registration requirements for application to the ACS assessment scheme by providing an auditable quality learning programme. Candidates can complete the on the job training with an employer, or we may be able to help find a placement for the candidate with a suitable gas safe Registered operative.
Areas covered include:
- Tightness Testing
- Purging Gas Pipes
- Appliance Servicing
- Testing and adjusting Burner Pressures
- Testing Gas Rates
- Spillage & Flue Flow Testing
- Gas related breakdowns
- Visual Flue Inspections
- Visual Safety Checks
- ID/AR unsafe situations
- Ventilation Requirements
- Working & Standing pressures
On successful completion of the course, the candidate can be entered for the Domestic ACS assessments.
Flexibility
The “on the job” portion of the training can be completed over a longer period without the candidate having to do this full time. For example, it can be done at weekends, evenings or one day a week. This part of the course is complete when a candidate has completed a certain number and type of task, and the length of time it takes is not relevant to the successful completion of the course. During this period, Flexigas will be in contact with the gas safe registered installer(s) who is providing the placement, and the candidate to provide advice and help where needed. Please contact us for more information on this.
Requirements
Candidates must have a suitable background for acceptance on to the course, such as a mechanical, plumbing or engineering experience, but previous experience of working on gas is not necessary. A short initial interview is required to assess candidate suitability.
Please contact the centre for further information and availability.
